Overthinking is Another Form of Procrastination
5 March 2019
Have you ever thought about something so much it paralysed you from taking any action at all?
I know I have.
I believe it stems from a deep fear of making a mistake, so we’d rather make no decision at all than the wrong one.
I’ve seen people who live in permanent fear and regret mode. They’ve made one decision that didn’t work out the way they’d hoped and have been forever scarred by their experience.
I believe living like this is a form of death because you’re permanently stuck in a lose-lose situation.
On the one hand, you want to try and on the other, you’re afraid to fail. So, they tell themselves they’re going to think about it and do their due diligence before making any grand decision.
But what happens when you’ve done all the research you can and still won’t move forward, you’ll forever remain where you are and never grow or evolve.
This stagnant energy can suck the life right out of you and age you ahead of your time.
I’ve met 30-somethings who behave like 90-year old’s who are too afraid to even shift in their chair let alone make a decision to move their life forward.
You’ve got to be ok with making a mistake (I don’t know if I even believe anything is ever a mistake) so your life doesn’t grind to a halt.
If you’ve got advice from experts and you’ve calculated your risks and things seem good to move forward then take that next step, you never know where that step will lead!
It’s better than doing nothing and remaining exactly as you are.
